Gloomy, magic-working widower seeks beautiful, intelligent farmer's daughter for romance, world-saving, softcore sex descriptions, and eventual marriage. Thoughtful plot and character development not required. Suitable for fans of McCaffrey and Lackey rather than vintage Bujold.

...I'm not keeping my copy. I may read the sequels, but I'll get them from the library. This is the second Bujold book in a row not up to her usual standards; I hope she reverses that once this series is done.

As you know, I liked The Hallowed Hunt. But from my brief page-flip review of the new Bujold tells me it's *bad*. I fear Bujold has turned to the Romance Side. :-P

the second book to be excellent. Good description, but I thought that the culture clash part between the farmers and the rangers will come to the fore.
