hostage situation

madbakerI love my friend Steve. If he and his wife weren't so insanely busy, we'd hang out more.
Last June, while visiting friends in Colorado, I found a perfect gift for him. It's a Radio Shack red LED clock, set in a wooden case with wires and (fake) dynamite. It's actually a working clock, which just makes it funnier. Of course, as I was driving back I went across the Hoover Dam with it in the trunk... forgetting that they're doing security checks. I was waved through, but I had a whole explanation planned:
"Uh, officer, there's something I want to tell you before I open my trunk..."
Anyway, we gave the clock to him for Christmas and he was vastly amused. However, he left it here by mistake; then he didn't show up to our housewarming, so it's still sitting on our study floor.
I sent him e-mail recently telling him that we were holding it hostage until they showed up for dinner or something, and this was his reply:
"We have your bomb...leave $8,000,000 in unmarked bills in locker 233 at the depot or we'll throw a child on it."
Did I mention I love my friend? He's one of the reasons I got through high school, well, not really sane, but you know what I mean.
