Two webcomics I read regularly ended today.
Narbonic was planned and announced far in advance. It ran five years.
Irregular Webcomic ended today without any notice. It ran four years.

Comics should come to an end sometime - see the ongoing adventures of strips like Blondie or Hi & Lois that have run for decades. In the case of Blondie, decades after the artist/writer died.

But I'm still feeling a bit at odds and ends.
Edited to add: okay, apparently Irregular Webcomic's ending was a hoax. Sigh.

I just discovered Wondermark (www.wondermark.com), which re-dialogs late 19th and early 20th centure comic strips. no continuing storyline, but definitely some laugh-out-loud moments.

Re: Comics coming to an end, FoxTrot has ended the daily run in the papers as well (replaced in the SF Chron by "Lio"? whatever ...). I guess Amend decided to stop doing the daily stuff and may still be doing Sundays?

Yeah, Amend announced it a while back. FoxTrot is still funny, I think, but making room for new comics is not a bad thing.

Someone had mentioned it awhile back which is why I knew (missed any announcements), but the last few days of daily comics were pretty obvious that either he or someone was quitting, and it seemed silly that he'd be making jokes about a different artist ... no wait, this is Amend ... <g>
