A recap is better than a redcap
Apr. 2nd, 2007 10:48 amCoronet was good, if tiring. I wasn't sure that I'd be able to take Friday off (month- and quarter-end) but I talked my boss into it, so we got onsite around 11 AM. Most of the eric space was already taken, so we set up just off the eric next to
goldenstag and company. That worked out fine; it was easy access for the Aja wine-drinking memorial and also meant that when we ate during court, we weren't in direct view and sound-carrying.
Our Saturday dinner was one of the best we've done, I think, and we've set a pretty high bar for ourselves. Unfortunately
bonacorsi had to stand court and while I tried to grab food for her, it didn't always work.
Sunday was exhausting - nothing like spending 3+ hours in meetings. More than I attend at Crown events where I only have one! First, the Mists Management Meeting. Which ran long, because a few officers blathered and so did several guilds. Price of admission. Then payday, as I wrote a bunch of checks. Comes with the territory. Then a Regalia meeting which went on about ten times longer than the clock indicated. Then a meeting with the rangers to write them a check for the site...
We have to start planning Sunday lunch. We generally haven't bothered in the past, but between packing up and meetings it's impossible to get off site at an early hour anymore. Sunday, I regret our standard of tourney living. It was made bearable by Crystal and Geoffy-Matt helping haul our stuff over, and then by the upstairs neighbors unexpectedly showing up to help unpack. Thanks, guys. You four made our Sunday much, much easier.
We usually go out for pizza after camping events. We're tired, I don't usually want to cook, and the place is still a mess. So we go out. This time I wanted to try Little Star Pizza, a deep-dish place not that far away. My review is biased by our not having eaten since a breakfast of oatmeal eight hours earlier, but still... excellent deep-dish pizza, decent service, cash only. I'd go back.
