Shakespeare fans, go rent this

Latest rental: Slings and Arrows, season 1.
This is a Canadian TV series that sounded kinda interesting: dysfunctional theater cast has director die, director is replaced by crazy ex-actor who is haunted by dead director while financial manager tries to take control... plus aging diva, ingenue, Hollywood star out of his depth playing Hamlet (apparently inspired by Keanu Reeves playing Hamlet in Edmonton, and actually doing a credible job!)

It is really, really good. They only shot 6 episodes per season so there's really no filler. I may end up buying this show; both the wife and I can easily imagine watching it again.

Plus the opening credits music is two aged theater queens singing "Cheer Up Hamlet" in the theater bar.

Sounds very much like "I Hate Hamlet", which I was in sophomore year of college. "LA Doctor" tv actor comes to NY to try Hamlet and gets instructions/harrassed by the ghost of John Barrymore, whose estate he's renting. Good play - written by Paul Rudnick (who's mainly known for Jeffrey and the script for Addams Family Values, but I digress).

It just occurred to me that every year we ended up putting on some variation on the Melancholy Dane at some point (this, "Fifteen-Minute Hamlet", "Skinhead Hamlet", and of course [selections from] "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead).
