Beltane was good, generally speaking. We camped far enough away from the eric that I ignored court the entire time; instead, I spent chat time with visiting [livejournal.com profile] loupnoir, whom I see far too seldom, and having snarfblats played under our awning, and just generally sitting around. The vastly fluctuating temperatures were unexpected - Saturday morning, the table dew was iced over.

[livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi and I managed to get offsite far earlier Sunday than the last few events. Part of it was bringing less stuff, like the firepit. Also not being on the eric and not going to court, so we broke down the pavilion very soon after peerage meeting attendance. The largest factor, however, may have been splitting breakfast with G-M and C: I made Dafair on Saturday and they cooked duck bacon Sunday. This meant that both the wife and I were packing earlier and the breakfast stuff was packed earlier. This was a successful experiment that all four of us will continue.

Not so successful was Saturday night's dinner. Actually that's not true - dinner worked quite well, but no thanks to me. See, with [livejournal.com profile] callistotoni camping elsewhere I planned to make one of my favorite fish dishes from Just Add Butter: Tuna of Another Sort. Approximately half an hour before planned service I went to the cooler... and couldn't find the tuna. [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi looked too, but there wasn't much left in the cooler at that point. Obviously I'd left the tuna home. Aargh!

So I cooked up my planned veg dish (mixed greens sauteed in house-cured bacon ends) and fortunately we'd invited others for dinner, so there was enough protein. Jokes were made about "another sort" meaning "missing" or "forgotten".

And yes, the tuna was sitting out on the counter when we got home Sunday.

Galen left it alone on the counter? Our ever-so-helpful pair had pre-heated the oven for us again, and it was nice and hot (tho' not nuclear) when we got in. Too bad we were too lazy to cook. :)

He's not too interested in the counters, unless there is sun there. Also, the tuna was still in its sealed plastic so it didn't smell fishy. (Obviously I threw it away, though.)
