Yesterday did not start out well. We were across the Golden Gate when I realized that I had left the directions at home. We tried calling everyone for whom we had numbers, but with no success. We had the site's address, so we attempted to reverse-engineer directions from a mile away... and got lost. Finally a friendly local put us on track.

So, we showed up later than I wanted. Plus I had spooged and not gotten seed money for the constables. Bad exchequer. They managed, fortunately, but I feel like I dodged a bullet there because it was my responsibility.

The rest of the day went okay. [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi was presenting tickets for next week's Collegium feast, and since she doesn't like to talk in public I went up with her. The Prince had just announced that (with limited exceptions) all announcements were to be made by the herald, in the interests of audibility and brevity. So when I asked for permission to speak... I boomed out my announcements, although not at my full capacity. (That would have been rude.) The joke about "$5 for lunch, $10 for dinner, discount price of $15 for both" got a laugh - more than it deserved, but I'll take it. When we finished, the Prince (who had also just mentioned that with his lists change, 30+ heralds would be needed) asked what I would be doing on the day of the tourney.

"Being Your Exchequer, Your Highness," was my reply. I'm still pleased with that comeback.

Dinner with [livejournal.com profile] mastersantiago and [livejournal.com profile] roswtr was lovely - on [livejournal.com profile] ptigris' recommendation, we went to Syrah. A tad pricey but well worth it. Good chattage, very nice food, and a very pleasant way to round out the day before driving home.

I signed up to herald for Coronet, which means I'll need to do my piece at morning court so I'll still have a voice. I'm not much of a herald, but I figure that I can at least help the real heralds not get too burnt out.

Well, the real reason I won't be participating is that I don't have the vocal stamina anymore - I'm out of practice and would blow my voice in short order.
But this was a better line.

Pricey - ya. *laughs* Welcome to Sonoma County.

Too bad Zin was out of the question. The mood there is much more convivial.

Syrah's physical space is a bit unsuited for such. But the location to event site is nice.

BTB: you dropped an "i" =)

Syrah was well worth the recommendation. Thanks again!
