1. Mundane Name:
J.

2. Mundane Job:
financial fu

3. Persona name:
Wulfric of Creigull

4. How did you come up with your name?
I wanted to be Saxon. I picked Wulfric out of Withycombe, I think. "Creigull" came from a 1908 Encyclopedia Britannica in the Honnold Library stacks. It was a deanery in Staffordshire, next door to Burton-on-Trent (the oldest brewing town in England). I liked the sound, although I later found that I pronounce it incorrectly. Too late now!

5. Where and when did your personal live?
I assume you mean "persona". Theoretically pre-Conquest England, although you couldn't tell it from the clothes I wear. This is the West; we don't do persona.

6. What is your Known World Location?
Kingdom of the West, Principality of the Mists, Shire of Cloondara.

7. What kingdom do you consider to be your home?
West.

8. How long have you played?
It'll be twenty years this fall.

9. How did you get started?
[livejournal.com profile] farmount was a year ahead of me in college. She and her then-boyfriend dragged me to an event in Caid. I haven't looked back since.

10. Why did you join?
I fit in and it was fun.

11. Have you registered a name?
Many years ago.

12. Have you registered a device?
Also many years ago. I've changed it twice; each time has gotten simpler, because I can't draw. I've got the final version now: Vert, on a pale between two Latin crosses argent, a Latin cross vert.

13. What awards have you been granted? In what kingdom did you receive these awards?
My AoA came from Caid. Everything else is from the West - Leaves, Corollae, Spoons, Pied d'Argent, Laurel, and some more.

14. How many events do you attend each year?
Er... between ten and twenty, I think. That's not counting Ed Levin work parties and GSP rehearsals as events.

15. What is the best event you have ever been to?
Probably the Twelfth Night where I was a surprise Laurel. I thought I was a couple years away. The Beltane where [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi was Laurelled was good, too. So was the long Beltane a couple years ago. The Twelfth Night where we performed Peermalion - I think that was our first standing ovation.

16. What is the worst event you have ever been to?
A Mists-Cynagua War. I don't fight, so I only attended because I was SeaWolf Herald. The event was in Half Moon Bay the same weekend as the annual pumpkin festival, so it took hours in traffic to get to the site. Then we had to drive up a 20 degree slope uncleared dirt road, over the underbrush (smell that burning transmission fluid!) The site was on a cliff which meant nice views, but also constant 20 MPH winds. Oh, and there was no potable water on site.

17. What event do you make it to every year?
Arts & Sciences. Twelfth Night, too.

18. What event do you refuse to go to?
The wife and I generally don't go to Crown events because neither of us fight or are fought for. (And any prospective royalty who might ask us to be on court are likely to do so even if we’re not there.)
But refuse? I guess Ducal, like everyone else. We used to go before the fringies took over, and back when I naively thought they might actually buy land sometime.

19. Who is your favorite person to hang at an event with?
[livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi and I tend not to see each other much at events. I don't really have one person.

20. What activities do you participate in?
Golden Stag Players; I'm the exchequer for the Mists; I used to be a herald and I used to dance regularly. I bake and cook onsite, but that's just me.

21. What activity would you like to learn?
Shrug. I'm going to continue to learn because otherwise you stop moving, but I don’t have a particular focus in mind.

22. Are you a marshal?
Nope. I've tried it a couple times but meh.

23. How many tents have you had destroyed at events?
None. I put a tent pole up Charles the Traveler's nose, though.

24. Has your garb ever caught on fire?
I've burned a hole or two in a cloak by sitting too close to the firepit.

25. Have you ever woke up in a strange person's tent?
Does mine count?

26. Do you have a pavilion?
Yes. A bell wedge that we're very happy with.

27. Are you a peer?
Yup. Laurelled in '97.

28. Do you ever want to be a peer?
I wanted to be a Laurel, not for the "rank" but to achieve that level of accomplishment. I don't think I'll ever be a Pelican as I don't work that hard.

29. Is a coincidence that peer rhymes with beer?
Is it a coincidence that Pelican rhymes with "The hell I can"?

30. Are you a squire, apprentice or protege?
I was apprenticed to Juana before I was Laurelled. [livejournal.com profile] ldyanna is currently my apprentice.

31. Who would you like to be squired, apprenticed or protege'd to?
See above.

32. What is your war cry?
My motto is "Fermentamini! O mea fermenta" – "Rise! O my baking agents!"

33. Have you ever been pulled off of the field for your safety?
I don't fight. When I was a field herald, I was careful about that sort of thing.

34. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you in armor?
I don't fight. Weren't you listening?

35. Have you read copora?
I've read Corpora, if that's what you mean.

36. Circlets, how do you feel?
I don't wear any. If you want to, go for it; I'll stick to my straw or felt hats.

37. What household(s) do you belong to?
None. The Company of St. Teresa is a camping group, and the Golden Stag Players is an acting troupe. I think the relative longevity of both is partly due to their not being households.

38. If you could change one thing about the SCA what would it be?
Term limits for Royalty? Seriously, it would be nice to have new blood on the throne. More generally speaking, more emphasis on non-fighting activities.

39. What is your favorite part of the SCA?
Every once in a while, getting up early at an event and seeing a deserted eric of pavilions, with the mist starting to steam off – and being transported.

40. What is your SCA Goal for the next 7 years?
Shrug. Continuing to learn and impart learning, I suppose.

"Fermentamini! O mea fermenta"

Hee hee!

That's not a motto;

that's a madrigal in the making. Or an aria--those rise too...I can hear it in my head.
