Caltrans Ramps Up
Aug. 14th, 2007 06:46 am...or not.
This morning I drove to my usual freeway onramp. It was closed; the Caltrans sign stated that it would re-open at 5 AM. The dashboard clock says 5:04.
Okay, whatever. I follow the detour signs... and follow them... and drive into steadily more sketchy areas of San Francisco... and the detour signs stop. Some wag has taken them.
Now, I could probably find my way to the freeway in the daytime, and if I'm not getting frustrated by simply trying to get to work. However, I end up driving for another fifteen minutes parallelling the freeway, simply looking for an onramp that isn't there.
I finally find one near the airport. Needless to say, I was late to work. Thanks, Caltrans, for hewing to your schedule. Bunch of savages in this town.
