That was a weekend?

Bardic went pretty well, from my limited perspective. The downside of working in the kitchen is not being able to watch the competition, and from all accounts this was a very good year. Oh well.
There were no kitchen failures (despite my attempt to drop one of the pie crusts); one of my dishes (boiled greens sauteed in butter) was probably the least successful dish, but much of it was still eaten and/or taken home. The creme bastarde with the balsamic reduction was pretty. So much for my dishes. The salmon came out really well (I took a bag home; it's going into quiche tonight with a couple bags of leftover greens) and the plum pudding was spectacular.
Major props to
ppfuf, who did more of the wrangling than I did, Flidais, and
ldyanna who were the other cooks and did a great job. We also had two stellar dishwashers for the entire day, and
j_i_m_r and
bonacorsi as prep chefs/team garnish/general kitchen dogsbodies. It meant that we had a few too many butts in the kitchen at times, but - more importantly - no one got really overwhelmed.
Sunday: GSP rehearsal.
The rehearsal didn't involve any actual rehearsing. But the wife got people making masks so that we have time to practice with them (that's been an occasional problem in the past). And
aastg and
roswtr did costuming plans. Both activities did spur play discussion and some good ideas.
This is the first time with the GSP for the actress playing Leandro. She's been taking copious notes on scenario mechanics, motivations, and such. Yesterday she asked me about how much transition time was planned for a scene change. I responded "not much," as these should generally be pretty snappy. "Darn." She outlined some thoughts she had for a bit of business for her character that would work if there was time for it.
"...go for it! That's funny! We'll make time!"
I'm looking forward to actual rehearsals.
If I didn't have this hobby, I might have leisure time.
