Sep. 24th, 2007 02:51 pmIt was extremely gratifying to be awarded the Mists Order of the Period Encampment (OPE) at Coronet.
As it sounds, the award is given "to an individual or household who has made a great effort to present an encampment with a medieval atmosphere."
bonacorsi and I wouldn't have deserved - or achieved - the award on our own; it's really been a group effort and everyone has helped push our camping consortium along. The Company of St. Teresa as a whole has been dining en tableau on Saturday night for a couple years now (it's also a great way to foist our leftovers show largesse to passersby), and we try to keep our Coleman stoves and the like out of sight.
(At least one of the two other groups that were dining along the eric Saturday night was also en tableau. If we can start a trend from our example, well, that's great!)
It's not the sort of award that I "wanted" to get, but it was an aspiration. Being told in court that we were setting a good example - that's really nice.
