Last week [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi had a minor accident. She was rear-ended on the freeway at maybe 5 MPH. The other driver was 100% at fault (and admitted it), and had insurance. No damage to the wife, thankfully. Our car damage is minor cosmetic on the rear bumper.

...which is still going to cost a fair amount at the body shop. It'll be covered by the other driver's insurance (eventually). And of course, our rates will probably go up.

Sigh.

Your rates shouldn't go up, if it's not an at-fault accident for you, which rear-end collisions (as the one rear-endee) rarely are.

still, having a vehicle out of commission for a time is no fun, either.

Glad to hear [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi is okay.

If the other driver is completely at fault, in theory (and it is just that) your rates shouldn't be at risk. Your insurance may, since you got all the insurance info (I assume) cover everything and you won't even have to pay the deductible ... including a rental car if needed.

This is based on way too much experience.

Probably the only good thing about the unspeakable traffic in the Bay Area is that you are far less likely to be hit at speed.

...so glad bonacorsi wasn't hurt!

Your rates shouldn't go up and she should get a free car to drive while hers is in the shop.

I too am glad she wasn't hurt.

Very happy to hear she's OK, which is the important thing.

And... jeepers, what took so long to mention it? We've all missed out on a week's worth of either A) Being glad she's OK, or B) Concern over your insurance rates.

This is LiveJournal. We need to adhere to *some* standards, don't we?
