Last week's Resolution Recipe ('cause I didn't make it until last night): Mint Sauce.
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh mint
1 T powdered sugar
salt & pepper
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup water
In a small, heavy saucepan bring all the ingredients to a boil over high heat. Boil hard for 3 minutes. Cool completely for several hours and chill to serve.
What worked: It was approximately the same as commercial mint sauce, but not as gackingly sweet as most of them. It went fine with the barbecued lamb we had last night (despite my forgetting it and getting halfway through dinner, the wife remembered it).
What didn't: Meh. Uninspiring.
Will I make it again? Doubtful. I don't buy commercial mint sauce; I don't see any reason to make it either.
