Good fences make good neighbors, but...

madbakerA few weeks ago the top part of our fence collapsed, falling on the neighbor's side. It looked like the posts had rotted through. We discussed it with him and he offered to take care of it as long as we split the costs. No problem there.
They put it in Saturday. We have a reasonably-well-built 6' fence for a moderate price. The workers stomped to death the raspberry plant and the flowering hop, which I kind of expected since those were right up against the old fence. We planted them this year so they're replaceable.
What I didn't expect was the workers snapping our 2' dwarf Meyer lemon tree in half. The tree was more than ten feet away from the fence!
It's also replaceable, but annoying.
