Prediction: Heath Ledger will sweep movie awards (including Oscar) for his portrayal of the Joker.

His performance is very good, from the reviews I've read. But even more importantly - he's dead.

There was an article in Yahoo Entertainment about this very topic. The consensus of critics seems to be "He'll be nominated, but he won't win."

Apparently very few posthumous Oscars are handed out for acting - the last one being Peter Finch for "Network". Additionally, this is a summer blockbuster film, and we haven't yet gotten to the "meaty" film season that traditionally get Oscar nominations.
