Mostly at my instigation, a dozen or so of local fans are getting together tonight for a beer with the author Tim Powers. He's in town for a convention this weekend, and I asked on his newsgroup if he was willing to hit a meetup. Since he doesn't travel much outside southern CA it'll be nice to meet him. I'm taking my book stash in case he feels like signing, but I'm not going to insist.
