post mortem

In that this is a post, and I feel mortem this morning.
The Tim Powers meet-up last night was a success. (He's a SF author I quite like - one of the few whose works I will buy before reading.) He lives in southern CA and rarely tours, but he's in town for a con. He and his wife graciously agreed to meet a dozen or so fans at a bar near their hotel for a few hours.
They are very nice people. Lots of good conversation about topics both book-related and non. I took shameless advantage of his generosity to get all my books signed (a backpack full). I haven't had a chance to see what he wrote yet as it was too late when I got home. I'm not a collector; I don't have separate reading copies. I just like his style.
But staying up until 10 PM puts a hurt on me. The older I get the harder it is to bounce back from missing sleep. Well worth it, even if I have to stay up late again tonight to do schoolwork.

Date: 2009-10-29 06:15 pm (UTC)I loved Anubis Gates. I really should read more of his work.
Thanks for the reminder. What shall I start with?
