Date: 2009-11-06 12:04 am (UTC)I read somewhere that taste is the result of us being hard wired to avoid toxins. I'm told my mom, who loved licorice ate alot of it when she had morning sickness with me. I blame her for my detesting the stuff now :)

Date: 2009-11-07 04:40 am (UTC)This Wednesday I had a dog which came in who had eaten a pack of Trident sugar-free gum. Xylitol is toxic to dogs, and the third ingredient listed on the package. The "tropical fruit" odor after inducing vomiting was... disturbing.
