I always liked Peppermint Patties as a kid. Especially when you threw them into the freezer for an hour. Junior Mints, same thing.
The line from a recent S*P cracked me up and made me wonder how others feel. So, a poll:

I feel similarly about licorice - except that anything licorice-flavored will never enter my mouth by choice. Even mouthwash or gum. Bleagh!

I'm with you. licorice shouldnt be food, nor medicine or even consumed by any one neaer me in an enclosed (or not so enclosed) space.

thats my one super strong aversion. licorice/anise/fenugreek/fennel/ouzo/thai basil..... blech!

Chocolate and mint are an addictive food for me. If I start eating it (andes mints, mint girl scout cookies, mint milano cookies, etc.) I can't stop. Always funny to me how we're individually wired taste-wise.

individual tastes are cool :) means you and I could share a box of chocolates with no one getting hurt ;)

I read somewhere that taste is the result of us being hard wired to avoid toxins. I'm told my mom, who loved licorice ate alot of it when she had morning sickness with me. I blame her for my detesting the stuff now :)

I used to adore the chocolate&mint combination, but I'm finding that it doesn't appeal very much these days - especially in the form of a high-end chocolate bar with mint in it. I'll take my chocolate unadulterated, thank you very much.

However, there's something about Junior Mints and peppermint patties that still pushes buttons for me - thinking about them right now is making my mouth water. Maybe it's just the power of nostalgia?

Sadly, I could see myself making a similar mistake to Vanessa (in the comic). I actually did a remake of the Exorcist back when I was 5, but the stuff spewing out was brown and chocolatey. There is something very wrong about vomitus smelling like tasty things, and I am reminded of this every time I have to induce vomiting in a dog which has eaten chocolate.

This Wednesday I had a dog which came in who had eaten a pack of Trident sugar-free gum. Xylitol is toxic to dogs, and the third ingredient listed on the package. The "tropical fruit" odor after inducing vomiting was... disturbing.

I enjoy them from time. The chocolate/mint ratio is a bit to mint heavy for my taste. I am a firm believer that mint and chocolate were meant to be together though =)
