- In the course of your MBA studies, have you experienced any revelatory moments, where you found out something that was genuinely new and exciting? What was it, and why?
Hmm... actually yes. In the first week of introductory classes we had a leadership session. One of the things discussed was how "disengaged employees" behave. I realized that in fact that was how I had been the last couple of years at my previous employer before they laid me off.
(I mostly blame them for making me that way though, and I'd be happy to discuss that over alcohol sometime.)- If you had to do your MBA all over again, what class would you avoid?
I don't have any choice in my classes - one downside of the Executive weekend program. But the Information Systems class we had, all eight weeks of it, was a cutting-edge class... fifteen years ago.- What would be the perfect kitchen configuration?
I'd have to talk to an architect / kitchen remodeler / etc. How about what would I want in my perfect kitchen? Rather large fridge with bottom freezer; steam-injected gas oven and wood-fired brick oven alongside; two sets of sinks; a full pantry; a pass-through to the formal dining room... and a dumb-waiter to the master bedroom upstairs, because I always thought they were neat.- After all that time and effort you have decided to change careers. What is your new career and why?
That's a toughie. I thought about this when I was on the unemployment beach. I actually like my current career (and I think I do a decent job at it). I'm too old and non-nocturnal to be a line chef, even if the pay was acceptable. I suppose my OCD could work with programming or something similar.- What SCA activity have you missed most since you went back to school, and plan to resume again as soon as you can?
Attending events and socializing with people. Doing our Saturday night dinner tableau and forcing random passersby to eat yummy period food. Hanging out with the usual suspects.
