As of today I am no longer a "provisional" employee who can be let go for any reason, or for no reason. Yay, I guess.

I thought the "right to work" in California or whatever it's called means that your employer can always let you go for any reason, or no reason.

That is true, except where there is a public policy interest (e.g. prohibiting discrimination). This exception has steadily widened over the years.

In any case, my employer has waived this right in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that applies to my job classification for employees with one year or greater standing.
