90s nostalgia
Apr. 10th, 2010 06:29 amWe just finished a Netflix rental of a mid-90s TV series that, unfortunately, only ran six episodes: Profit. Richard III was the inspiration -- a villain that worms his way to the top, talking to the audience and making us complicit. I can see why it got low ratings because it's not a fun happy place. Very good, and darkly funny, but not something that most of America would have been willing to watch on the networks then. Now, it would succeed brilliantly on cable. Like, say, Breaking Bad. Oh well. I thought it was highly worth a rental.
What I'm reading: Christopher Moore, Bite Me - worth it alone for the vampire parrots of Telegraph Hill.

Maybe I'll look for that DVD too. I don't think I've seen it.
I thought of you folks when I was in San Francisco yesterday for a wedding. What a beautiful day! I can see why a person would like to live in the city on a day like that.
