What was starting out as the social weekend from Hell has fizzled somewhat. farmount was going to be in the area Thursday and suggested dinner; sadly we were already committed and had to pass. Friday was scheduled for dinner with etaine_pommier and dave_orphal but he was sick and had to cancel. The lamb tagine that I had planned with his spice packet from a few years ago got made anyway. We really liked it. Which is good, because there's a lot of leftovers. I threw in a sweet potato and a butternut squash, both of which bulked it out and melded nicely, and also some pomegranate seeds. Yum!

Tonight we're taking my dad out for his Xmas present: dinner, followed by Gilbert and Sullivan. I didn't sleep that well last night so I will probably have to caffeinate after dinner. Tomorrow John the apprentice comes over for corvee duties. We're making duck confit, lamb merguez, and Mexican-style chorizo. Tacos planned for dinner.

I'll post the recipe in the next couple days. We adapted it from Charcuterie, which I think you have. It worked out well.
