We didn't make it to the native plants nursery on Wednesday. My wife met me, and we went off to the art store to get a couple woodblock prints framed.

Cough, cough. "Can't we just pushpin them to the wall?"

The framing process took over an hour, so by the time we got on the road to the nursery, it was 4:30. The place is a good 20+ minute windy drive from the freeway, and it closes at 5 pm... so we didn't bother. We might try again on Saturday; it should be a nice day to drive along Skyline, and maybe picnic. It depends on whether the wife needs to go into school or not.

In other gardening notes, we've been thinking about retaining walls. Home Despot sells do-it-yourself bricks that look pretty good, although they require digging 4" down to set the wall and I'm not entirely sure there is that much dirt over the rock. Also, they aren't cheap (duh).

But they do look nice; and I'm not wild about alternatives that leave rebar visible, for example. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?

Learning to use a mat cutter can save you lots of money, if you like things framed. Signed, cv the cheapo

Believe me, when the time comes for her senior art show and the 30-40 prints to exhibit, she's doing the framing herself!
