I've been listening to an audio book read by the author. He has a decent voice, although his inexperience as an author shows in his overuse of "he said" and such. More annoyingly to me is his mispronunciation of certain words - "exPERTly" is one that is constantly jarring.

I had my share of words that I mispronounced because I got much of my vocabulary from reading. "awry" is one that I pronounced "AW-REE" for years. But I wasn't paid for it.

Me too! "With this regard, their currents turn awry" - I learned it from the page, and so of course I pronounced it awree.

Yeah, I've learned to look at who the reader is when picking audiobooks. Actors are usually better than the authors, but definitely not always. I listened to *Hearts in Atlantis*, written by Stephen King. Part of it was read by William Hurt, and he was *terrible*. It was like he had no idea what the punctuation was for. He'd stop randomly in the middle of some sentences and blow right past the ends of other sentences. Stephen King read the rest, quite competently, thank Bob.
