This week's Resolution Recipe: Brussels Sprouts and Bacon.

1 lb Brussels sprouts
4 strips bacon
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped (I used... more)
1 Tbsp butter
salt and pepper

Cook the bacon to crisp. Slice the Brussels sprouts into halves, cutting off the stem ends. Remove the bacon from the skillet and add the sprouts, onions, and garlic. Cook until softened. Add back the bacon. Stir, cover, and cook 20-30 minutes until desired tenderness. Add the butter in small pieces and salt and pepper while the butter melts.

What worked: eh, it was okay.

What didn't: It wasn't as good as our usual preparation (roast with balsamic vinegar). Not soaking in water also meant that I had some, um, cabbagey intestinal aftereffects.

Will I make it again? I don't think so.

I know a fellow who bakes Brussels in heavy cream. He loves them that way. I'm sorta meh about them.
