O the Digital Tragedy

Our DVD player died. We inherited it from the wife's father some years back, so I'm not terribly surprised.

So has Karen's, pretty much, we think: at least, it keeps refusing to play perfectly valid disks.

Blessedly, my outlandish possession of non-US DVDs had already driven us to double up with a multi-region player (her original being apparently unhackable), so we're covered.
