Older Consumers Buy Stuff, Too
...some of the world's best-known companies are setting their sights on older consumers. Music retailer Virgin Megastores is redesigning its stores to appeal to Led Zeppelin fans.

Ouch.

Young punks like you, listening to *my* Led Zeppelin?

Way back in my day, we had these big black platter/disks made of hard vinyl called 'records' or 'LP's. Just like 2-sided DVD's, you could play *both* sides. Only it was music, not video. There were no videos on the records -- not even the 'special edition' ones, and you couldn't put it in your computer -- not even the 8.5-inch or 5.25-inch floppy disk drives.

You had to spin them on a motorized turntable, and have a needle-like probe actually come in contact with the data to read it. The disks were centered on a spindle through a hole in the middle of the disks (although some of my 60's folk-music albums don't have holes in them. I imagine I'd have a real fun time if I punched holes in them. Real fun.)

"Older Consumers," indeed. I don't think I've ever been a patron of Virgin Megastores. Doesn't look likely in the near future, either.

Ouch is right!

Sheesh. Now I am feeling old.

You don't really love Zep unless....

...you've worn out at least one vinyl of Led Zeppelin IV.

And they use it to sell Sadillac El Tomato Pervertible SUXs. I would weep for my generation, except the nausea keeps rising first.
