December is for Dungeness
Dec. 19th, 2012 01:10 pmRelatively slow work day today, so I took a break to go have lunch with the wife. We left the house around 10:30 for Swan Oyster Depot. Our plan was to bypass the inevitable huge line and get a couple crab salads to go. I dropped off the wife and looked for parking. Amazingly, I found a space in relatively short order. By the time I caught up with the wife, she had gotten in line for the counter lunch - since she was the second person waiting for seats at the full 19-butt counter. This meant our total wait was only 20 minutes or so, which is quite doable.
We each had a small cup of silky clam chowder (made as $deity intended it, Boston-style) and then a crab salad. Their crab salad is a good-sized plate lightly filled with shredded iceberg lettuce and then mounded with fresh crab. Sooooo good. An Anchor Steam to wash everything down, and it was a fine way to take a holiday break.
