I was in France, so I have none. Other than trying to call my dad and getting a recording of "Your call cannot be completed due to the earthquake in this area."

I was standing next to the cubicle of a coworker, when the first jolt hit. It felt like a roller coaster, and my first impression was amusement. Then, my terminal (old school tech!) bounced off my desk and faceplanted in my chair. The lights went out. The rest of the staff in that wine prarie-dogged and started a loud debate about what to do. Me? I grabbed my purse and headed outside. We all stood around in the parking lot for a bit. I decided it was close enough to quitting time to go home. When I cranked the engine on, the radio was static. I hit scan and watched the LED numbers flick through the dial. That's when I realized that there'd been an earthquake and my first thought was: Ack! I hope the salt water aquarium hadn't toppled onto the floor.

In San Francisco. 6th floor of the UOP School of Dentistry...

The building swayed back and forth, and my boss and I looked at each other and thought, "earthquake"... And then it jumped up and down a few times and we went "ohshit, EARTHQUAKE!"

And then I walked home and made the mistake of turning on the TV. Footage of the Marina on fire gave me PTSD for weeks....
