Favorite Galen conversation from last night:
"How fast is his learning curve?"
"He's half Siamese."
"Oh. Never mind."

He's now learned how to open cabinets... by opening them properly. Or at least as properly as someone with no thumbs can - he meerkats up and hooks his paws in the handles.

Sigh. Maybe we need to install toddler/earthquake-proofing bits.

In the handles! Wow! I bet you can teach him to walk on his hind legs. I tried that with one of mine; she still will meerkat up for treats.

... a cat we used to have ...

Max -- used to be [livejournal.com profile] seamoose's cat. The spouse came home one day when I was sprawled on the sofa, with a bag of Tostidos on the floor, and a big furry grey cat butt sticking out of the bag, with the sound of crunching ...

Smarter than he looks, eh?

I thought about installing those in the place we were in, in Richmond. Zootie is about that smart. The current place has doors with springs in the hinges, so it's much harder for him. He KNOWS the Toilet Paper (his natural prey) is in there, but he just can't get the door open. Heh. We may have to do something in the new place, but we'll see. (I hate seeing a dead roll of toilet paper scattered all over the house ... it's so sad!)
