Where did the Romans drink it? (hic)
Jul. 3rd, 2016 12:05 pmPlease tell me someone got this joke. I don't even ask that you find it funny.
This week's Resolution Recipe continues a theme: the Irish Jack Rose cocktail.
1 oz Irish whiskey (I used Bushmills)
1/2 oz Calvados or applejack brandy (I used a nice applejack)
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz grenadine
Add all to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lime.
Drink... but... very carefully...
What worked: I think I liked it even better than the regular Jack Rose. I wouldn't waste a good single-malt on this, but it might be nice with a higher-end blended Scotch.
What didn't: Like the standard Jack Rose, it was way too easy to drink. It wasn't quite as refreshing as a standard Jack Rose. I might make my standard recipe a 1.5x batch to fill the coupe a bit more.
Will I make it again? Heck yeah. Since I'm posting this ahead of time, I probably already have.
