I'm a bad San Franciscan
Sep. 11th, 2016 11:43 amThis week's Resolution Recipe: The Hanky-Panky.
1.5 oz gin (I used an Old Tom style - you don't want a highly juniper-y gin)
1.5 oz sweet vermouth
2 dashes Fernet Branca (I used Amaro di Angostura. Fernet is a different amaro. I have Angostura and Punt e Mes in the booze cabinet, along with vermouth which is technically one.)
Combine all, stir with ice, and decant into a chilled cocktail glass.
What worked: This was a good Friday cocktail. It was basically a sweet martini with a dash of Amaro.
What didn't: Allegedly San Francisco is responsible for 70% of all Fernet Branca consumption. I'm not one of them: while I have grown to like Amaros, Fernet is too far on the mouthwash end of the scale for me.
Will I make it again? Certainly.
