Posh Space
Jun. 19th, 2004 12:04 pmWell, the Giants lost to the Red Sox in a game that looked like it was AA minor league, at best. Wakefield throwing 60-mph knuckleballs. A third strike passed ball where the batter makes it to first. Lots of stolen bases due to aforementioned 60-mph pitches. A runner jumping over the catcher to score. Dropped pop flies. Seven home runs.
The atmosphere was incredible. Felt like a playoff game - I haven't felt that much energy at the ballpark since the game they clinched the division last year. Obnoxious Sox fans. More energy than many Dodgers games!
The suite was incredible. Probably the most comfortable I will ever be while watching a game. Fabulous catering, sitting in upholstered seats behind home plate next to the press box, looking through a huge open window at people walking by so we can sneer at the hoi polloi. Only 200 feet from home!
I stayed awake until 11:30, mostly on adrenaline. The brokers hosting were discussing which bars they were going to hit; I passed, partly because that's not really my thing, mostly because falling asleep facedown in your cocktail is frowned upon.
