Had a college friend in town, stayed with us for a couple of days. Oddly enough, Galen the cuddleslut was terrified of him. This is a cat who has adored (and been willing to be adored) by everyone who has ever met him.

Don't know why. Ken smokes, but so have other people Galen's met. Ken didn't do anything - just that Galen took an instant fright to him that never went away. Huh.

Good HouseSwarming party at [livejournal.com profile] mastersantiago and [livejournal.com profile] roswtr's place. One of the major downsides to having moved north is not seeing our friends in that neck of the woods very often. I can't make that drive, and I can't expect them too either. I miss the silly card games though.

Chatted briefly with [livejournal.com profile] tshuma Sunday. Enjoyed the band! You guys were good.

Just found out about Kylson this AM... damn.

It was good to reconnect, although you caught me in serious pre-show jitters so I have no actual memory of the content of the conversation. =) And thanks, we had a good time putting the set together, glad you enjoyed the results.

About Kylson...I found out Saturday night; at the wedding Sunday I knew there were several people there who probably didn't know who would want to. It was so hard to say nothing, but it was just not the time.

Last night I was finally able to get past the numbing shock of it all, and grieve. As you said...damn.

I hadn't made the connection that you were performing, or I wouldn't have tried to chat at you. I've had a few cases of pre-performance jitters myself (and probably will again, this upcoming play at Twelfth Night)

No problem, I wasn't making a production out of it externally, just internally.

Do you get them (the pre-performance jitters) often? In years of performance art, I've almost never gotten them before a performance. They almost always descend upon me just after my last exit from the stage; I turn into a quivering mass of nerves almost immediately after the last note/line.

jitters

I haven't gotten quivering mass-type stage fright since high school. What I usually get is manic nervous energy. Somewhat like a racehorse before a race, I suppose, but never having been a racehorse...

If everything goes well (and mostly, it has the last few years) then the audience energy takes over and I get jazzed.

Thank you for holding onto it.
It broke me into bits for a while.
Then I sat and marveled at the man and there was sunshine through the tears.

I'm so glad I was able to hold it in. It was literally on the tip of my tongue when I saw you, and I had to bite my cheek to keep from saying anything.

I decided that either you already knew, in which case I didn't want to remind you just before your wedding ceremony, or you didn't know, and that would be very possibly the most stupid time to break the news. Whether or not they loved him, very few who've met him have remained untouched by the experience.
