Good Fences Make Good Neigh-booze
Jul. 4th, 2017 08:44 amThis week's Resolution Recipe is in honor of July Fourth: The Stone Fence.
It's an 18th c. American colonial drink, so it seemed appropriate.
2 oz dark rum
300 ml hard cider
Pour rum into a pint glass with ice. Top with cider. Drink.
What worked: I can see why they drank this. Yum! The rum kind of disappeared into the cider, making it way too easy to drink.
What didn't: We used a sweeter cider than we both prefer, and a middlin' grade dark rum which kind of disappeared into the cider. I think we'd like this better with a dry cider and a stronger, more intensely dark rum.
It might actually be better with the anachronistic addition of bitters.
Will I make it again? Possibly as early as later today for the Fourth.
