You give work a bad name.

I am in the office today. Normally I work from home on Fridays, which is a nice break from the commute and also (generally) allows me to run some errands or do housework as needed.

However. My professional group is doing free* professional headshots today. My last headshot was seven years ago, and while I'm not looking to change jobs it seems worthwhile to update the LinkedIn picture. Assuming that the headshot looks good, of course.

Last time I came in on a Friday I took advantage of being the only one here and dressed in my usual Friday wear: T-shirt, jeans, tennis shoes. But I couldn't today, because headshot. I even wore a blazer with my button-down shirt. (No tie, though.) Oh, and I can't even leave early if it's quiet-ish: my appointment is at 4 PM.

I did allow myself to wear tennis shoes, though.

*Work pays a lot for these free things. Mandatory yearly dues to the national and regional organizations ain't cheap.
