Galen's Siamese inheritance
Jul. 3rd, 2004 12:29 pmDark points and blue eyes? Check.
Lean body type? Check.
Terrifying smarts? Check.
Weird meow? Pass.
Neuroses? Check.
I've posted before about Galen's litter box fetish. That is, when we clean it he will immediately "mark" it to show that it's still his. One of several reasons we currently only have one cat - there's no room for a second litter box.
I noticed during the winter that unlike all the other cats I've known, Galen doesn't like heater vents. Most cats accept them as solar power substitutes. "Aaah, warm air on the belly. I'll just lie here." We had to move his food dish because it was too close to the air vent in the kitchen, and he wouldn't go near it while air was coming out.
We just replaced his water fountain (one of those motorized filter types that look like an IMac). He likes that, because the water is always fresh. But the new one had a slightly clogged motor, so it was whirring... and he wouldn't go near his food or water while that was the case.
Galen doesn't mind the noises from the upstairs neighbors walking overhead, or the freeway noises, or...
The 1/3 of his body that is white fur shows that he's only half Siamese. The brain, though, is all there.

Date: 2004-07-03 04:00 pm (UTC)(How did we find this out? My parents took the cat camping with us, and it was hot, the cat was thirsty, and they were low on water. So they threw a couple apricots on the grill to get the juices going. Little did they know that they were creating a monster.)
When we decided that we were ready for another cat, I was open for anybody who might want to adopt us at the pound - but I was predisposed towards a male Siamese.
