The wife took Galen to the emergency vet today. He was having problems peeing. He's 15, so it was not surprising to hear that he has a UTI as well as some kidney problems.

They're keeping him overnight for antibiotics and fluids, and no news is good news. We still feel guilty for leaving him there, and of course worried and have no control over anything.

Oh no, I hate it when I have to leave my pets anywhere, it feels so wrong and I feel so bad. I hope he's home tomorrow all better.

The one time we boarded Galen for a weekend, he was "the unhappiest kitty in the world" according to the tech and came back hoarse from yowling near-constantly. He has us, and anyone else is automatically suspect.

That said, we got a call last night that he is reacting well to treatment.

Oh no! I'm glad he's reacting well to treatment, but I hate these little signs of time passing and reminding us what's to come.

Yeah. Unfortunately it's a reminder that he's now on the downhill side of his time. Hopefully we have a few more years with him.

I hate going to vet every much as all of our animals do. It's not the cost; it's the possibility that our beloved critters are mortal. Best of luck to Galen
