Cat is home.
Feb. 25th, 2018 03:18 pmThat's the main thing. He is still a bit anemic, we have a bag of saline to administer sub-cutaneous fluids for the next couple weeks, and a pile of meds to shove down his throat to clear up the e-coli infection.
Further diagnoses include a partial explanation of his weight loss: a 5x thickening of his lower intestine (could be cancer, could be something else, but both are treated with the same steroid) meaning that fewer nutrients go into his system when he eats.
He also has only partial kidney function. (1 is normal, 5 is fully shut down - he's around a 2.1 to 3.)
Galen has two poodle-shaved legs from the IV; a partly shaved tummy; and a clingy sense of dread. But at least he's out of the cone of shame.
For our part, we have had a stressful weekend, and now have a much higher credit card bill. But at least we have our boy back.
