Whether Galen sleeps on the bed or not, he almost always comes up and starts washing my face around the time the alarm goes off. Sometimes five minutes before (as he did this morning) and sometimes a couple minutes after, when I'm still trying to drag my sleepy butt out of bed.

It doesn't make it any easier to leave the warm bed and snuggling wife when there's twelve pounds of loudly purring beast sitting on your chest, grooming you. And he's so happy while he's doing it...

This might explain why I've barely been on time to work this week.

Since I'm allergic to them, we don't let the cats into the bedroom at night. But Grendel has learned that the sound of the alarm clock preceeds me getting out of bed, which means, of course, that I'm available to give him more cookies! If I'm not fast enough out the bedroom door, he'll helpfully try and pull it open for me....

I can't think of a better reason to be late. (Except of course the aforementioned "snuggling wife"....)
