Open & Shutglass
Oct. 28th, 2018 10:44 amThis week's Resolution Recipe: The Open & Shut Nightcap Scaffa.
A scaffa is a room-temp cocktail without ice.
1.5 oz amaro (I used Angostura)
1/2 oz cognac or brandy
lemon or orange peel for garnish
Combine ingredients in rocks glass with no ice. Garnish with peel if desired.
What worked: This was delicious. I like amaro, so diluting it with a bit of brandy wasn't going to turn me off it. I will say the Angostura amaro, which can be a bit spicy straight, was mellowed beautifully this way.
What didn't: It didn't put me to sleep? Then again, a nightcap isn't really supposed to be a knockout drink.
Will I make it again? Undoubtedly.
