It Gives Me the Vapors

This week's Resolution Recipe: the Japanese Cocktail.
It was invented in 1862 by famed cocktailian Jerry Thomas.
2 oz cognac
1/2 oz orgeat
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Combine all in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a lemon twist.
What worked: It was reasonably good. I used a medium-grade brandy instead of cognac; I suspect a good cognac would make this better. I also tried it with a Calvados, but I didn't like that as much.
What didn't: It didn't excite my taste buds.
Will I make it again? I will put it in the book, but it'll be an occasional mix rather than a go-to. Especially if I only like it with cognac, which would require buying yet another bottle.
(Did anyone get the header joke? I'm mildly proud of it.)
