My watch apparently fell to the ground one too many times - the crystal cracked. Yes, I could get it replaced. It also has some other minor issues which might be fixed with a cleaning, although I did that maybe a year ago. All in all, I probably would spend less getting a new watch since this one is not high-end.

The problem is that I have very specific tastes in what I want to wear. I like watches that are not as chunky/sizeable as the standard men's watch. I like rectangular rather than oval. It needs to have a date function. And I prefer silver.

That's a hard combination to find, mostly because of the shape and size preferences.

Do you actually need a watch? I haven't worn one in decades--there is nothing a watch can do that my phone can't, unless you count trying to be subtle about looking at the time, but I think people still notice if one looks at one's watch.

There is one very large thing a watch does that a phone cannot: be worn on the wrist.

So yes, I actually need a watch.

When I was in Seattle this winter I was surprised to see my step sister checking her emails on her wrist. She has a wrist-watch phone extension thingie (I forget what she called it) that lets her access many (I don't think all) of the apps she has on her phone through the wrist, so she doesn't bother to take the phone itself out unless it is important enough to need the larger screen.

I don't think I would want one, I quit wearing a watch when I moved to California, as I didn't want a tan line on my wrist, and have been very happy without a watch ever since. And it might not suit you, as I don't think they come in silver (though it was certainlly rectangular), and probably aren't the size you prefer, but you can wear your phone on your wrist...

Not everyone wants to wear a phone constantly. I just want a watch.

It often sucks to know what you want! (What I find especially frustrating is when online vendors don't offer a search filter that includes the criteria I care about.)
