This is the very definition of a false alarm.

The smoke alarm went off around 1 AM.
And at 1:10.
And at 1:30.
And at 2:30.
And at 5.
And at 5:30.*
And just now.

Generally it goes off for one round of beeps and then is silent. It's not a "change my battery" chirp - it's a full-on "your house is burning down." Except of course, it isn't. And the damn thing is hard-wired so we can't just disconnect it.

It was, for all three of us in the house. We got an electrician in to replace the damn thing on Saturday. (No more house/household repair expenses for a while, please!)
