a Resolution Recipe
May. 19th, 2005 09:15 amOkay, I officially give up the pretense that I'm catching up. I missed a week.
So, here's this week's installment.
Peppery Turnip Treat
1 Tbsp honey
1 tsp butter
1/2 lb turnips, peeled and diced
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 Tbsp minced fresh dill
Melt butter and honey over low heat. Add turnips and pepper. Cover the pan, and cook turnips until they are tender, about 12 minutes. The turnips should brown slightly; stir once if needced. Sprinkle with dill.
What worked: it's a way to use up the turnips we get in our CSA box.
What didn't: it's still turnips.
Slightly more seriously, this was too peppery even for my taste. Maybe because I used white pepper?
Will I make it again? Probably. Not because I really liked it, but because it was edible and there aren't that many ways to prepare turnips, so the more recipes the better.
