"Traditional Cure for the Rheum"

*Take three hens' beaks, grind them finely
*Add the powder of freshly-grated stilton cheese wedges (not more than 2 handfulls)
*Add two measures of rainwater with waterdancers [Note: this may refer to mosquito larvae? --Fionn]
*mix in a pinch of yesterday's unbaked dough.

Let this mixture sit for two weeks in a pigs' bladder

I can't remember the name of this stuff, but my sister-in-law swears by it -- it's stuff that you take when you feel the very beginnings of a cold and it manages to kill most of the problem. It's useful for plane trips, and airports and all that. When we came back from the Cruise, the spouse and I got sick, the sister-in-law didn't because she used this stuff. Worth checking out if you're going anywhere these days.

That could be it. I've asked my sister-in-law because I can't remember for sure, but if that's not the name of it, I have heard of Airborne and it's similar. The stuff my SIL uses is from Trader Joe's I think. (Of course, my memory being what it is ...)

The SIL got back to me, it is "Airborne", and she does get it at TJs, but apparently you can get it at Longs and other places as well.

Oh, sorry to hear that.
But now that you're home I can ask the recipe look-up question I've been sitting on all week. I'd like to make a Sacher Torte in about two weeks. It needs to be both wheat free and sugar free. The wheat was the easy part. I'd like the sugar substitute to be fruit of some kind, not man made chemicals. Got any suggestions/recipes?

Not that I can think of -- I may have made a Sacher Torte once but that's it. Maybe using applesauce for the sugar (and some of the butter)?
