This week's Resolution Recipe: Cilantro Slaw.

5-6 cups shredded cabbage (about 1/2 head; I used purple)
1/4 cup lime juice (I used two fresh limes)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds, toasted; or 3/4 tsp powdered cumin
1 cup cilantro leaves, minced
1 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp honey
salt & pepper
(I added 3 cloves garlic, crushed; and some Tabasco.)

Mix everything together.

What worked: It was... an acceptable way to eat cabbage. The garlic and Tabasco brightened up the slaw quite a bit.

What didn't: It was... not exciting.

Will I make it again? Doubtful, although we get a decent amount of cabbage in our CSA boxes so I'm always trying to find new ways to eat it.

If you ever do find a good way to prepare cabbage, let me know, 'cause I'm damned if I know what to do with the stuff.

I usually make a variation on Chinese chicken salad, but that's what I did the previous time so I wanted to try something different.
There's a reason I always go back to ccs.

I like to make stuffed cabbage with it. You know, lots of ground meat, rice, tomatoes, etc., wrapped in big cabbage leaves. Very good! It's one of my family's comfort foods.

Cabbage is Irish soul food, and I miss it. Himself hates the stuff.

We ate it boiled with hot mustard. I also like it raw. And in soup. Stir-fried.

Now you've got me jonesing for a fix of cabbage.
