Like [livejournal.com profile] wyterayven and many another new-ish parent, we've bought lots of toys for our young one.

His favorite is, of course, the $1.29 pack of shoelaces from Walgreens.

"And it's an evil string-monster and I must kill it and I can carry it around the house and then chase it some more and put it down and wash it and..."

(sigh)

String is King!

Yup, string is a big favorite with every cat I know. Madeline will bring the string to me: on the bed, and even upstairs. The problem I have is that Madeline *never tires* of it. Madeline has turned out to be the Geffory Scott of kitties when it comes to playing :-0 .

Max loves strings too. I think the only toys he likes better are Honor and the ball with the fethers on the end.

have you tried the thumb-sized furry mice that are often in a big bowl near the cash register of pet stores? Some have rattles in them also. big hit at our house. Also paper, tinfoil, and measuring tapes.

Just make sure he doesn't eat the string, or that $1.29 toy will become a $2000 surgery and trip to the emergency clinic for a linear foreign body obstruction (http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/24800.htm&word=linear%2cforeign%2cbody).

Yeah, that's why we take away rubber bands from him, even though he likes those even more than string monsters. He loves them so much that he gnaws on them as he plays, and that makes us nervous.

One thing that I have found is a favorite for my monsters are those bits of dyed rabbit skin. I'm not sure what it is that really sets them off, as I know my two are smart enough to know it isnt real, but they love them.

It is very funny to watch them playing at being the big bad hunter. The only thing funnier, I think, is when Rina decides to grab one of our socks, and carries it out like a leopard carrying her prey. She is so proud, and it just looks rediculous.

There is nothing like having a baby in the house. They bring so much joy. :)
