According to today's Wall Street Journal, Elmo became the most popular Sesame Street character in 1996 (edging out Cookie Monster).

Maybe it's a generational thing - Elmo didn't exist when I was growing up - but I've never understood Elmo's appeal.
My favorite was either the Count, or Super Grover.

Not that I'm possessive towards Sesame Street, or anything. Just 'cause we first aired the same day, I mean.

I would love nothing more that to hit Elmo w/a baseball bat. He drives me nuts....and yup you guessed it my nephew loves him...crap. I just know it mine (none yet!!) will prob. love Elmo and Barney. Its just so not fair!!!
I must agree Super Grover rocks!!!! But my favorite will always be Kermitt...
